Rainbow Lorikeet – Parent feeding its chick. Spotted this lovely scene out of the corner of my eye as I was out bush walking.  I love the way the shadow of the fern is cast onto the bird’s back. Photo taken in Lane Cove National Park, Sydney.

Rainbow Lorikeet – They are almost hourly visitors to our backyard, very noisy with a variety of calls, cheeky and bold. They will quite happily hop onto the outdoor table while we are eating, approach closely and occasionally gently nip a finger…perhaps saying, “G’day”.

Rainbow Lorikeet – displaying its acrobatic behaviour while feeding.

Rainbow Lorikeet – recently fledged chick displaying its full abdominal and underwing colours.

Rainbow Lorikeet – chick exploring our garden (with its parents close by).

Noisy Miner – Photos here taken in our backyard, Lane Cove, Sydney.

Noisy Miner – perfectly at home everywhere in the garden, often alone, unlike the Lorikeets which are in pairs or with their chick.
